JANUARY

General Meeting Tuesday January 11, 2011 - Reference and Resource Roundtable

Time: Starting at 7pm

Roundtable discussion about your favorite reference and resource materials about lutherie and instrument building. Bring in actual materials like books, dvds, magazines, lists of websites and local places where you go to get information about tools, materials, building, or techniques for repair. Lists of resources and copies of handouts you like to refer to would be good also. Any ideas or information you might have that might help a fellow luthier along in their craft, please bring it along to share with the group.

Congratulations to Jay Hargreaves the new Seattle Luthiers Group President! We also welcome Aaron Andrews as a new board memeber. If anyone would like to help the Seattle Luthiers Group out on any projects or planning plese let talk to the board members at the next general meeting or email us.

General Meeting Tuesday May 10, 2011 - Board Member Aaron Andrews Shop Tour

Aaron will give us a tour of the shop he shares with Steve Sheriff and they will show us how they do things including how to run a pantograph.

Members Rick Davis of Running Dog Guitars, and Cat Fox of Sound Guitar Repair, host a GAL Exhibition party at their shop in Fremont. Join the Seattle Luthiers Group, Stew-Mac and a Guild of American Luthiers exhibitors for a party to support all luthiers exhibiting their fine insturments at the GAL convention in Tacoma July 20-24, 2011. SEPTEMBER

burning

General Meeting Tuesday September 13, 2011 - "THE BURN" at Golden Gardens

Time: Starting at 7pm

If people can get there earlier, it helps to reserve space.

Location: Golden Gardens, past Shilshole Bay Marina

People will have to look for familiar faces, as we don't have signs or balloons.

The Burn is for mistakes and trash. The embarrassing stuff that should no longer exist. (Though some trading has happened)

Also, wood scraps from the shop can be cleared out, but NO plywood.

It's another potluck type event. If people can bring firewood suitable for cooking, some cooking can be done there.

The park doesn't really allow alcohol, but if we keep it discreet...

We can bring leftover plates and cups, but help from others by bringing their own would be nice.

Potluck items should have their own serve tools. Flashlights might help during clean up.

Grill available, bring dishes, snacks, sweets, drinks and utensils!

We are calling for nominations from the group on all Seattle Luthier Group Officer Positions. Email me with any nominee suggestions. We will hold the 2011 SLG election and tally the votes at the beginning of the meeting.

There will also be an auction where everyone is encouraged to bring in items to swap or sell. *Jay Hargreaves was contacted by the GAL about Tim Chipman, a guitarmaker that passed away. He had one day to clear the remaining guitar supplies out of his apartment and will be bringing a lot of items to the November auction. Proceeds will be a donation.

DECEMBER
